01

About AdPorta

🐣

Adpo

So what kind of service is AdPorta, exactly?
🦉

PorTa

It's an ASP (affiliate service provider) that connects advertisers who want to run ads with providers (site owners) who have ad space. A provider sets up an ad space on their site, blog, or social account; an advertiser applies to place their ad there; and once a partnership is formed, the advertiser's banner goes live.

🐣

Adpo

There are plenty of other ASPs out there — what makes AdPorta different?
🦉

PorTa

The biggest difference is that instead of the media owner (provider) choosing which advertisers to work with, the advertiser chooses which provider's ad space to use.

🐣

Adpo

Why is it built that way?
🦉

PorTa

It's designed this way so an advertiser's ad never ends up somewhere they didn't intend, which could hurt their brand image. This is standard practice in the US and Europe, but it didn't really exist in Japan.

🐣

Adpo

Wait, that didn't exist in Japan before? Why not?
🦉

PorTa

For a long time, Japan's advertising industry was dominated by ad agencies that sat between clients and media, choosing placements on the client's behalf in a "leave it to us" model. Since agencies earned a percentage of ad spend as their fee, it suited them to keep control over placement decisions themselves — there wasn't much incentive to build a system where advertisers picked individual spots directly. In the US and Europe, by contrast, a culture of advertisers choosing placements and negotiating directly took root much earlier. AdPorta brings that "advertiser chooses" model to Japan.

🐣

Adpo

But why did this become necessary right now?
🦉

PorTa

On top of that, we're now in an era where the number of "individual media" — social accounts, blogs, YouTube channels — has exploded. Big agencies can only maintain relationships with large, traditional outlets like TV stations and newspapers; they don't have the bandwidth to deal with countless individual and niche media one by one. As a result, personal sites and social accounts with genuinely engaged followings often went unnoticed by advertisers. With a system like AdPorta, where advertisers can search for and choose ad space themselves, advertisers can reach even small but highly engaged media directly. It's precisely because we're in the social media era that an agency-free, "advertiser chooses" model became genuinely necessary.

🐣

Adpo

I see... but isn't it hard for media owners to attract advertisers themselves?
🦉

PorTa

It's true that turning a low-traffic site, blog, or social account into an attractive ad space is hard — but that's no different from ordinary affiliate marketing, where people often put up a banner just in case it earns a little pocket money. And with AdPorta specifically, it's not just about attracting advertisers through a "we're looking for advertisers" banner: whenever an advertiser or provider who registered through your banner pays or receives a reward, 5% of that amount comes back to you permanently. So there's no downside to putting the banner up. If one of the members who signs up turns out to run a huge company or major media outlet... that's a pretty exciting possibility, right? See 05 Referral Program for details.

🐣

Adpo

If advertisers pick where they run, doesn't that limit exposure and hurt results?
🦉

PorTa

With a typical ASP, your ad does get shown on an unspecified number of sites, blogs, and social accounts, so exposure goes up — but as mentioned above, that also means it can end up on a site with nothing to do with your product or service, which can damage your brand, or even lead to unintentional undisclosed-advertising (stealth marketing) issues with legal consequences.

02

What's a Campaign?

🐣

Adpo

I keep hearing the word "campaign" — what actually is it?
🦉

PorTa

It's the unit an advertiser uses to create an "ad campaign." They register a campaign name, destination URL (landing page), genre, and reward terms (flat monthly rate, cost-per-click, or a percentage of results), among other settings. Providers look at a campaign's details and decide whether to run it in their ad space.

🐣

Adpo

Does a campaign go live as soon as it's registered?
🦉

PorTa

No — campaigns go through admin approval first. Even after an advertiser registers one, it isn't published to the marketplace until an admin reviews and approves it. If there's an issue, it can be rejected instead, in which case the advertiser receives an email naming the campaign and explaining that it was rejected. Only once it's approved does it become visible to other providers.

🐣

Adpo

Do campaigns have to be open to everyone?
🦉

PorTa

You can also set a campaign to "private." Private campaigns don't appear in the marketplace listings, so you can use them to partner only with people you've shared the URL with directly, or to whom you've sent an offer.

🐣

Adpo

How do providers actually join a campaign?
🦉

PorTa

It actually works the other way around: the advertiser finds an ad space (a provider's site) they like and sends a partnership request. As covered in section 01, "the advertiser chooses" is the core idea behind AdPorta, so it's the advertiser who applies. If a provider wants to make the first move — "I'd like to run this campaign on my ad space" — they can send an offer directly to the advertiser, and if the advertiser accepts, the partnership moves forward from there. There's also a "bulk apply" feature that lets an advertiser apply to multiple ad spaces on a site at once for the same campaign, but that's also an advertiser-side feature.

03

What's an Ad Space?

🐣

Adpo

What exactly is an ad space?
🦉

PorTa

It's the "advertising space" a provider sets up within their own site, blog, or social account. They register details like size, placement description, and estimated PV/UU, and once they set the recruiting status to "open," advertisers can find that space and send a partnership request. If a campaign (see 02) is "the advertiser's plan," think of an ad space as "the provider's inventory."

🐣

Adpo

Do ad spaces and sites also need approval, like campaigns?
🦉

PorTa

That's right. When you register a site, it first needs admin approval. You can't add new ad spaces while the site is unapproved, and even after approval, it can still be rejected later if there's a problem — in which case you'll get an email notification naming the site.

🐣

Adpo

Can you walk me through the process up to a partnership?
🦉

PorTa

The flow is: ① a provider registers an ad space → ② an advertiser creates a campaign → ③ the advertiser sends a partnership request to the ad space → ④ the provider approves it → ⑤ the banner goes live and starts running. As soon as the provider approves the partnership and activates the ad space, the ad appears — the banner that was previously recruiting advertisers switches over to the partnered advertiser's campaign banner. All the provider has to do is approve the partnership and activate the ad.

🐣

Adpo

What happens if multiple advertisers request the same ad space?
🦉

PorTa

You can set an ad space's distribution format to either exclusive (one advertiser only) or shared (multiple advertisers at once), and exclusive distribution further lets you choose between first-come-first-served and an auction format. Let's go through each.

🐣

Adpo

What does exclusive distribution mean?
🦉

PorTa

It's a format where only one advertiser runs in that ad space. Once a partnership is formed, that ad space isn't available to any other advertiser. It suits advertisers who care about exclusive brand exposure. If you choose exclusive distribution, you then also choose whether the partner is decided by "first-come-first-served" or by "auction."

🐣

Adpo

What does shared distribution mean?
🦉

PorTa

It's a format where multiple advertisers can run in the same ad space at the same time. The provider sets an upper limit on how many advertisers can be partnered at once, and up to that limit, multiple partnerships can be active simultaneously. Every time the page actually loads, one advertiser is chosen at random from the active partnerships and shown. Note that shared distribution isn't available for social media ad spaces, since OGP cards always display a single fixed slot.

🐣

Adpo

How does first-come-first-served work?
🦉

PorTa

It's one of the two ways to decide a partner under exclusive distribution. Even if requests come in from multiple advertisers, the moment the provider approves the first one, that ad space is filled and no further requests can be approved. It suits providers who'd rather lock in a good offer right away than compare requests over time.

🐣

Adpo

Once a first-come-first-served slot is filled, can the provider keep accepting requests?
🦉

PorTa

No, they can't. Under exclusive distribution, as soon as one partnership is decided, the ad space automatically drops out of "recruiting" status. Even if the provider later wants to accept a different advertiser, they have to end the current partnership first before recruiting can resume. If you want to accept multiple advertisers at the same time, you need to choose shared distribution instead of exclusive from the start.

🐣

Adpo

How does the auction format work?
🦉

PorTa

It's the other way to decide a partner under exclusive distribution. You set an auction end date and time on the ad space, and during that period multiple advertisers can submit bids (partnership requests). When the end time arrives, the provider is notified and can approve whichever bid has the best terms. If a great offer comes in and the provider is satisfied with it, they can also settle early with an instant match instead of waiting for the auction to end.

🐣

Adpo

When an auction is won, when is it decided that the other bidders lost?
🦉

PorTa

If it's settled via instant match, the remaining bids automatically expire the moment the winning one is approved.

With a regular auction (where the provider picks a winner after the period ends), on the other hand, the bids that weren't chosen aren't automatically rejected — they stay in a "pending" state for a while. The ad space itself is no longer recruiting, so it's effectively settled, but if you want the record to formally show "rejected," the provider needs to reject each of those bids individually.

🐣

Adpo

What's the benefit of connecting GA4?
🦉

PorTa

Connecting Google Analytics 4 to an ad space lets you automatically pull in and display visitor data for that page — PV, UU, and so on. Advertisers can check actual numbers for "how much traffic does this site really get" before choosing an ad space, so for providers it's a way to back up how strong their ad space really is. Connecting it doesn't require any review or approval — you just need to authenticate with GA4.

04

Performance Rewards

🐣

Adpo

How is the reward amount decided — is it fixed, or based on results?
🦉

PorTa

The advertiser sets a reward type per campaign: a flat monthly rate, a cost-per-click rate, or a results-based percentage. Since providers can see a campaign's terms before deciding whether to partner, the reward structure is always clear upfront.

🐣

Adpo

How are results counted? Does someone have to approve them?
🦉

PorTa

Whenever a click, conversion, or similar action happens through an active partnership's ad space, it's recorded as a "result." Depending on the campaign's settings, that either gets auto-approved or has to be individually approved or rejected by the advertiser. Rejection conditions (such as fraud-click protections) are defined in advance on the campaign side.

🐣

Adpo

What happens if an advertiser doesn't pay?
🦉

PorTa

If payment isn't made by the due date, we send a reminder email. If it stays unpaid, we take action depending on the situation, which can include suspending ad delivery.

05

Referral Program

🐣

Adpo

How does the referral program work?
🦉

PorTa

It's a "two-tier referral program": when a new member signs up for AdPorta through your referral code, referral banner, or ad-space banner, 5% of every reward that member ever generates comes back to you, permanently. It applies whether you refer as an advertiser or a provider, and it even applies to payments from someone you're not directly partnered with — that's the key part. Put a "looking for advertisers" banner on your ad space, and it doubles as both an advertiser-recruiting tool and a referral tool.

🐣

Adpo

What if I have referrers for both the advertiser and the partnered provider?
🦉

PorTa

Each referrer gets their own 5% individually — so up to two people can be rewarded on the same transaction. That means even if the advertiser's referrer and the provider's referrer are two different members, both of them get paid properly.

🐣

Adpo

Do I need to do anything to receive referral rewards?
🦉

PorTa

You need to register for Stripe Connect from the referral program page (you can register whether your role is advertiser or provider). Once registration is complete, you're issued your own referral code, text link, and referral banner, and you can check your list of referred members and reward history from your dashboard.

🐣

Adpo

When and how do referral rewards get paid out?
🦉

PorTa

Every time a referred member generates a billable charge, the reward is sent automatically via Stripe to your registered bank account. A PDF receipt is available for every payout — see 07 Getting Paid and 08 Receipts for more.

06

Prohibited Activities

🐣

Adpo

Is there anything I'm not allowed to handle on AdPorta?
🦉

PorTa

Yes. Our Terms of Service prohibit the following activities and content:

  • Acts that violate laws or public order and morals
  • Acts that cause nuisance to other users
  • Registering or providing false information
  • Acts that interfere with the operation of the Service
  • Unauthorized access or reverse engineering
  • Registering, listing, or operating sites, social media accounts, campaigns, or ad spaces containing adult content (pornography, obscene expressions, or other adult-oriented content)
🐣

Adpo

Why is adult content not allowed?
🦉

PorTa

AdPorta uses Stripe for payments, and Stripe's terms of service don't permit sending payouts to businesses dealing in adult content. To keep providing the Service reliably as a marketplace for mainstream categories, we prohibit adult content across the board — for sites, campaigns, and ad spaces alike.

🐣

Adpo

What happens if I violate the prohibited activities?
🦉

PorTa

We may suspend or delete an account without prior notice in the event of a violation of our Terms, non-payment of fees or membership dues, or any other reason we deem inappropriate. See our Terms of Service for details.

07

Getting Paid

🐣

Adpo

How do advertisers actually pay?
🦉

PorTa

On the billing cutoff date, AdPorta automatically issues an invoice based on that period's results and emails it with a Stripe payment link. The advertiser just needs to pay by card through the link. If a provider hasn't registered with Stripe Connect, though, payment happens via bank transfer instead.

🐣

Adpo

How do providers get paid? Are there any fees?
🦉

PorTa

Once the advertiser's payment is complete, the amount minus AdPorta's 20% fee is automatically transferred to the bank account registered with Stripe Connect. Providers don't need to do anything to receive it. If it's a bank transfer case, though, the provider needs to manually transfer the fee portion to the system's account themselves.

🐣

Adpo

Isn't a 20% fee kind of high? How does it compare to other ASPs?
🦉

PorTa

Typical ASPs (like A8.net or afb) charge the advertiser an additional ~30% on top of the reward amount as their fee, so the media side receives the reward in full. AdPorta works differently: the provider is effectively billing the advertiser directly, like an independent contractor, and pays AdPorta a platform fee out of that transaction — so the fee is deducted from what the provider receives instead.

This is closer to how freelance marketplaces like Upwork or Fiverr operate, and compared to their typical fee range (around 20%), AdPorta's 20% is a fairly standard rate. Advertisers only ever pay the displayed reward amount, with no additional fee on top.

🐣

Adpo

Is registering a Stripe Connect bank account complicated?
🦉

PorTa

Not really — you search for your bank and branch name and select them, and the bank code fills in automatically, so there's no need to squint at your passbook looking up codes. From there, entering your identity details on Stripe's screen takes about three to five minutes to finish.

🐣

Adpo

Are referral rewards paid out the same way?
🦉

PorTa

Not strictly required, but it helps. As covered in 05, AdPorta is built so the provider bills the advertiser directly, like an independent contractor — so the provider is the actual issuer of that invoice. If a provider is registered as a Qualified Invoice Issuing Business (Japan's インボイス制度), their registration number appears on the invoice/receipt, and the advertiser can claim the full input tax credit. Without a registration number, the advertiser's deduction is partially limited, which can make registered providers a more attractive partner for advertisers using the standard taxation method. You can add your registration number anytime from your account settings. See our tax filing guide (Japanese) for more on whether to register and how it affects your own tax filing.

🐣

Adpo

Do providers really need a Qualified Invoice registration number?
🦉

PorTa

Yes, it goes to the same Stripe Connect account. Every time either the advertiser or the provider makes a payment, the referrer's share (5%) is automatically split off and sent out.

08

Receipts

🐣

Adpo

Can I download receipts or invoices?
🦉

PorTa

Yes. From an invoice's detail page, you can download a PDF of that individual invoice at any time. Separately, there's also a feature for issuing a combined receipt PDF for a chosen date range.

🐣

Adpo

Do advertisers and providers get different kinds of receipts?
🦉

PorTa

Advertisers can download a receipt combining all their paid invoices for a chosen date range. Providers can issue two separate receipts: one for the amount received from the advertiser, and one for the platform fee (20%) paid to AdPorta.

🐣

Adpo

What about receipts for referral rewards?
🦉

PorTa

You can download an individual PDF receipt for each payout from your reward history on the referral program page. Use that one if you need it for tax filing.

09

Premium Membership

🐣

Adpo

What changes when I become a Premium member?
🦉

PorTa

Free members can register up to 100 ad spaces, while Premium members can register up to 1,000,000 ad spaces in total. Bulk registration via CSV is also unlocked (up to 500,000 ad spaces per file), which makes managing ad space for large sites much easier.

🐣

Adpo

What's the price and billing cycle?
🦉

PorTa

It's a ¥11,000 per month (tax included) subscription, charged automatically by card via Stripe every month after the first payment.

🐣

Adpo

Does it activate right after I sign up?
🦉

PorTa

Once your Stripe payment goes through, your account is usually activated automatically within a few minutes. If it still hasn't updated after a while, contact support@adporta.net.

🐣

Adpo

Can I cancel anytime? Is there a cancellation fee?
🦉

PorTa

Yes, you can cancel anytime with no cancellation fee. Cancellation is handled month by month — just email support@adporta.net to process it. No further charges occur after the month you cancel.

10

Closing Your Account

🐣

Adpo

What do I do if I want to leave AdPorta?
🦉

PorTa

There's no self-service option from your dashboard — you'll need to email support@adporta.net to request account deletion. Once we receive the request, we'll delete your account and data.

🐣

Adpo

Does all my data get deleted when I close my account?
🦉

PorTa

Information obtained through integrations like Google is deleted when you disconnect the integration or delete your account. Some data, such as invoices, may be retained for the period required by law.

🐣

Adpo

Can I close my account if I still have active partnerships or unpaid invoices?
🦉

PorTa

If you have active partnerships or unsettled invoices, you'll need to resolve or settle those first. Please contact support@adporta.net for details.

🐣

Adpo

If I close my account while on Premium, what happens to the monthly fee?
🦉

PorTa

Your Premium subscription is cancelled along with your account deletion request, so no further charges occur after that.
